During a deep meditation, I had a wonderful insight into mind and body health
They are at the opposite ends of the same spectrum
The body requires effort, stress, resistance and hard work to cause adaptations that improve muscle, lungs and heart
Doing nothing leads to decay and disease
The mind is scanning your environment several times a second for safety and survival, reading every word you see, recognising faces, processing information and never switching off
Doing nothing is the chamber of rest that leads to awareness and inner peace
Why do so many struggle with this?
Because like the body, we think it should be hard work, labour intensive and something that takes years to achieve. It is quite the opposite and the ability to sit still for 10 minutes and be ok with whatever arises can reduce your brain activity, stress and anxiety significantly
The problem?
We call nothing boredom and constantly escape it by being busy and therefore miss the easiest way there is to cultivate mindfulness and peace - this moment. The constant now that never stops
It is all here and it is always accessible
The question is where are you?
