I’m Steve and a keen sprinter. I am also 50 on June 28th and decided to do something memorable for this event. Rather than cards, presents and experiences, the best thing to celebrate this event would be something that many people could contribute to
I am a master’s sprinter and currently training for the British 100m record for the M50 group. The only thing I really find difficult is timing my training sessions as almost any setup of phone, app, timer and Bluetooth simply does not cut it – I have tried everything. What I really need are professional timing gates and these are provided by Freelap. They cost just under £700 in total and while I could easily buy them myself, that is not what this fundraiser is for. I want to give friends, family, clients, colleagues, students and anyone who knows me and has worked with me in some capacity, the opportunity to be an important part of my journey to become a record holder. Just £1 is plenty as I have worked with thousands of people over my career and it would mean so much more to know that this particular training item was the result of the many relationships I have had the privilege to be a part of, rather than a simple click on a webpage
I started sprinting at 44 and 6 weeks later got the club record for my age group and realised I had potential. Lockdown appeared, I got ill, all training and events were cancelled and I spent 3 years building myself back to where I was. Last year I managed to compete a few times, but strained my hamstring and missed several big events. This year I already own both club records for the 100m and 200m at M45 and will also own the 100m and 200m for the M50 as there is actually a championship event on my birthday – imagine that
This is my passion and I would love you to be a part of it, no matter how big or small
Thank you!
